Caribbean Charter and Courses...
We are offering three yachts in the Caribbean all operating in the skippered
charter/tuition mode. However we may charter Summer Breeze
to known clients with a Y/Master cert but it would need to be a round trip
getting the yacht back to where it started and they would in effect be
acting as our appointed skipper.
We basically go with the market but typically we like two week charters
with tuition or just straight family holidays where one or more people
want some tuition or miles.
Although the yacht is totally at the disposal of the charter guests a typical
two week itinerary might be as follows, assuming a start in Antigua heading
south for two weeks to finish in St Lucia.
Day 1 - Welcome aboard and casual yacht briefing, trip
to beach and local sightseeing
Day 2 - Sail to anchorage in Antigua, BBQ lunch with drinks
and evening meal aboard
Day 3 - Sail to Guadaloupe, visit ashore and meal aboard
Day 4 - Sail to Isle de Saints, visit ashore and meal
ashore
Day 5 - Sail to Dominica, evening meal aboard
Day 6 - Visit to rainforest in morning and sail to Martinique
in afternoon
Day 7 - Visit ashore and sail to St Lucia Rodney Bay in
afternoon, evening meal aboard
Day 8 - Sail to Pitons (southern tip of St Lucia) to anchor
and meal aboard
Day 9 - Sail to St Vincent meal ashore
Day 10 - Sail to Tobago Keys, evening meal aboard
Day 11 - Swimming/snorkelling on reef
Day 12 - Sail to Bequa
Day 13 - Sail back to St Lucia
Day 14 - Departure day
For charter and courses starting in St Lucia and finishing in Antigua a
similar itinerary but in the reverse order.
While on charter the yacht remains under the control of its very experienced
captain; while in the 'school-mode' the emphasis is more inclined to the
training needs of the crew. I would envisage a similar itinerary but the
students plan and execute all sailing passages. Basic courses such as Competent
Crew, Day Skipper and the more advanced Coastal are all available. For
those wishing to learn Astro-Navigation we would need to organise a more
specific group. Summer Breeze has a saloon area large enough to allow us
to use it as a classroom, which is a plus because it's a formula we use
here in Gibraltar: a bit of theory each day and then go sailing.
Prices
Cost will depend upon which yacht and the amount of time.
For the trans-Atlantic passages regardless of which yacht cost is £465
per person/week to include food, fuel and marina fees etc.
